A new generation navigation device for the otorinolaryngology and head and neck surgery clinic was bought by the central military hospital SNP management in Ružomberok after ten years a in the price of 237 000 euro.
The navigation system with an excellent specialised device and with the possibility of fusion of CT and MRI vision with the technical 3D support is nowadays an indispensable technology when demanding endoscopic operations of the front and central skull base occur, especially in the surgery of tumours situated between the brain and nasal cavity.
This system enables minimal traumatic access to tumours, which was in the past possible to deal with merely by the outer access through the skull cavity. This area is anatomically very complicated and it borders with vital structures that are very risky to be damaged. The navigation also provides higher safety standard for patients with revision operation or with other demanding operations of nasal cavities and the parts located nearby. This device helps younger doctors to orientate in very complicated operation field. The ORL department in Ružomberok is engaged in this filed for a long time and it represents a centre of advanced endoscopic surgery of the front skull base. It gathers on one place the patients from all parts in Slovakia.
Another part of the new equipment in clinic is represented by ultrasound screening device for an examination of soft tissue and by ORL examination device which was bought by ÚVN SNP Ružomberok-FB from the financial gift from Mondi SCP a.s. company in the price of 50 000 euro. During the press conference held on 28th June 2017, the representative of Mondi company gave a symbolic cheque to the deputy director of ÚVN SNP Ružomberok FN , Mr. Ladislav Slobodník.
Mondi SCP a.s. is listed among the regular supporters of military hospital. Thanks to the financial supply from the local cellulose-paper company, the Traumatologic-orthopedic clinic has gained the modern device for the basic diagnostics of limb injuries. Also, thanks to this financial support, the hospital has reconstructed the waiting rooms in the surgery pavilion, in the children’s rehabilitation care centre or in the department of postoperative care in ORL clinic.
